I just had to re-post this video after I saw it, because it reflects how all children should handle a bully.
I laugh whenever I see these anti-bullying campaigns people try to get me to donate money for. They try to raise awareness and show kids how to notify a teacher… blah… blah… blah. But I’ve never seen a teacher in my life stop a bully. Sure they might stop a fight now and then, but the persistent year long bullying a kid will receive over the course of a school year is not something you can stop as a teacher. The only action that works for a teacher is to expel the child. But too few teachers expel children.
The only real way to stop true bullying like this is exactly the way the overweight boy in this video stopped it. With violence. Parents who don’t admit that violence is an option are choosing to be naive.
I think I could even go so far as to say that not only did this bully receive exactly what he deserved; I think he received an important life lesson about how to treat people – Don’t treat them like $h!&
From my experience, bullies who get put in their place as viciously as this bully did re-think how they treat people and often go through a massive behavior transformation. Sure, part of it is caused by complete embarrassment, but it works.
The earlier in life a bully receives this type of retaliation the better.
And if you don’t agree with me… I feel sorry for your kid when they end up getting picked on.
