Fridays are for Fathers and Mondays are for Moms are two new features we’re rolling out at Better Parenting where we highlight some of the best of the parenting-related blogs and websites around.
The parenting blogosphere is largely dominated by women — mom bloggers have carved out an impressive space for themselves on the internet. Despite being a little late to the party, dad bloggers have recently started to make some noise of their own, and today we feature 5 of the best.
What sets these 3 bloggers apart from the crowd? Read on to find out.
Mocha Dad
Why we love Mocha Dad:
Fred (Mocha Dad) makes it all seem so effortless. He’s a gifted storyteller who delivers powerful messages about the beauty and power of fatherhood. Every day that I see there’s a new post on Mocha Dad is a day that instantly gets better. Reading this blog will inspire you to be a better parent.
Here are three of our favorites from Mocha Dad:
Big Daddy Paul
Why we love Big Daddy Paul:
This blog is self-described as “A stay-at-home dad’s take on travel, food, politics and murder. Oh, and my son Malcolm, I should talk about him, too.” Paul, a stay at home dad, and his son Malcolm provide high comedy with regularity. The stories are hilarious, and in the midst of the humor, you’ll actually find some great parenting nuggets. Despite frequent jokes about his parenting ability, Paul is clearly a dad who loves his son and is doing a good job as a father
A few of our favorites from Big Daddy Paul:
- Paul’s Rules for Children’s Birthday Parties
- Do Moms and Dads Talk About the Same Things?
- The New Dating Scene (finding a good play date)
Dad’s House
Why we love Dad’s House:
David Mott, the author of Dad’s House, has a true passion for parenting. He loves being a dad, and it shows through the interactions he has with his children. As a divorced dad, he offers great insight into the challenges of coparenting. We also can’t help but chuckle along as he provides insights into dating after divorce. No topic seems off limits for David – and it’s this refreshing honesty that makes his writing stand out.

@DaDa Rocks! – Glad you liked the choices. We’re going to keep featuring dad-related resources on Fridays, so if you have any recommendations, let me know. Thanks for checking in.

That is a pretty good selection of dad blogs. But it would be a mistake not to mention that there are hundreds out there now many of whom rival or exceed the mom blogs in every way.

@Jack – Glad you liked the selection. I agree that there are a lot of great dad blogs out there, and I plan on featuring lots more of them on future Fridays. These 3 were blogs that get special attention when they show a new post in my feed reader.
I’d love to hear some of your recommendations (I’ll send you an email).

Thank you for highlighting these great sites! I see so many “mommy blogger” sites around, but I haven’t had the pleasure of reading great Dad blogs. But now I will!
